GNS Ltd. provides a number of products that enhance businesses performance in a variety of spheres, including PMR/PBR handheld, mobile, system and Digital Private Mobile Radio (DPMR) products.
Private Mobile Radio (PMR)
Despite a recent wave of interest to public mobile radio networks, private mobile radio does not lose its positions and remains a flexible and cost-efficient solution. Only in Germany businesses use today about 2,5 million PMR stations based on private business radio (PBR). They are managed by different types of users who carry their own internal traffic. Industrial and commercial users are represented by industrial ventures and traffic companies, while administrative users are usually represented by local authorities and road construction contractors. A special category of PBR users is formed by public safety organizations, namely, fire, emergency, police and rescue services. Their radio frequencies must be specially assigned and accepted by the supreme authority, either federal or state.
Paging represents one more major PMR application. It gives users who carry a pager the opportunity to exchange messages. Some other applications are telecommand and mobile data and telemetry. They usually concern options of remote control and data retrieval, as well as radio alarms, and traffic control systems.
Private Business Radio (PBR)
Being a category of PMR, private business radio is also divided into various groups of users. Some of these groups are interest groups and umbrella organizations.
User Groups
Each PBR user group is distinguished by a specific task. Thus, craft, trading, and commercial enterprises represent different groups as well as authorities, transport companies, public and local utility companies, rescue and social services, and representatives of the medical sphere.
PBR Networks
PBR networks have several stations with an average coverage range from 10 to 15 km that include a base station, which is called headquarters, and some more mobile stations, which are either in-vehicle or portable or even both. Usually the area that is served by PBR networks and has no base stations is considered to be a geographical region, like “Frankfurt city”.
